Welcome to the home of DC Metro Soo Bahk Do Martial Arts Academy providing Soo Bahk Do® karate instruction for children and adults in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
The Soo Bahk Do® martial art (karate) system taught at DC Metro Soo Bahk Do® by Dr. Howard Kea, Sa Bom (master) is currently practiced in hundreds of certified Moo Duk Kwan® martial art (karate) studio locations worldwide by hundreds of thousands of students.
DC Metro Soo Bahk Do® karate school is certified and accredited by the the U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation® (http://www.soobahkdo.com).
The Moo Duk Kwan® martial art school has certified over 45,000 dan (“black belt”) practitioners.
The Soo Bahk Do® martial art system is derived from the traditional Korean Art of Soo Bahk Ki. Its roots stem from the Tang Dynasty.
The Soo Bahk Do® martial art (karate) system was created by Hwang Kee who founded his first Moo Duk Kwan martial art school in November 1945 in Korea.
- D.C. Metro Soo Bahk Do® is a non-profit organization.
- Everyone age six (6) and older is eligible to train in DC Metro Soo Bahk Do® karate programs.
- No previous martial arts experience is required.
- There is a one time registration fee of $200, which includes: first month’s fee, uniform, and first year’s US Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation Membership.
